D3 Research offers a wide variety of different modification services for your gun. From performance enhancing modifications to more complicated Marlin lever-action takedowns, we have the tools and expertise to perform any desired legal modification!
OUR MODIFICATION SERVICES
BARREL FITTING & CHAMBERING
This includes threading the barrel if starting with a blank, fitting and timing it to the receiver and cutting the chamber to the correct headspace. Commonly done during an accuracy upgrade along with crowning and blueprinting.
MUZZEL CROWNING & THREADING
A properly cut crown is essential for accuracy. If muzzle threads are desired, it is best to thread and crown in the same machine setup. The more concentric everything is the better.
PIN & WELD OF MUZZEL DEVICES
This is an ATF approved way to make the muzzle device part of the barrel length. If you want a 14.5in barrel but don’t want to make it a Short-Barreled Rifle (SBR), a pinned device can make the legal length of 16in.
RAIL & SIGHT INSTALLATION
We can tap holes to mount scope rings or rail sections. We are able to change all types of dovetail sights.
ACTION BLUEPRINTING
This process makes all the critical areas of a factory action very concentric and perpendicular, as well as truing the bolt face and lugs. This effort, along with a properly chambered barrel, improves precision in long range applications.
MARLIN LEVER-ACTION TAKEDOWN CONVERSIONS
This is a process where we convert a Marlin 336, 1894, or 1895 into a takedown. We unscrew the barrel and magazine from the receiver and use the magazine tube as a lock mechanism. The process includes coating and a trigger job.
STOCK INLETTING
We offer this in limited situations, usually to fit a different component such as a bottom metal. We currently do not offer finishing of semi-inletted wood stocks, but do offer glass-bedding of actions into stocks.
RECOIL PAD FITTING
This service gives you a clean looking new recoil pad by matching the contour of the stock.
